Expressions Graphics is a non-profit printmaking cooperative and fine arts gallery. Our volunteer-run facilities include a working press shop, committed to safe and eco-friendly alternative methods, and a gallery space open to the public. We offer art classes and education outreach programs for children and adults of all skill levels. Our gallery presents monthly exhibitions and printmaking demonstrations in order to share our expertise with the community and to promote a general interest in art.
Expressions Graphics has three printing presses in our studio as well as blankets, solvents, and other supplies. Some paper & plates are available for purchase. Our presses include a Griffin steel bed 18″x34”, a Charles Brand steel bed 16″x30”, and a Wright 27″x48” convertible press. We have screen area and papermaking supplies and a book press. Press time is available to members for $7 and hour or 8 hours for $50 a month. Tuesday evening Print Club is available to all members for $10.
Our group is supported by its members, press shop/studio rental fees, class and workshop fess as well as help with grants from The Oak Park Area Arts Council, the Illinois Arts Council.
One of our on going projects have been a visiting artist program where we’ve asked printmakers to share in their experiences with our group. This is done usually with an exhibition of their work, classes and workshops, a demonstration open to the public and running an edition of prints in our studio.
Currently Expressions Graphics has an gallery area where we exhibit print works as well as a working studio / press shop where printers can rent press time and we hold classes and workshops. Janet Schill is our current board president and Carol Friedle is an ongoing board member.
