Fish Printing “Gyotaku”

goyatakuThis technique was once used to record fishermen’s daily catch but now is an art form! We will be using both rubber and fresh fish, water based inks and we’ll be printing on various papers and a tote bag.  No experience necessary! Adults can bring other things to print on such as pillowcases, bandanas, tee shirts, etc.

Linocut Printing on T-Shirts and Paper

In this 4 week class students will design an image for relief printing, transfer the design onto a linoleum block and cut the block with gouges to create an enriched relief print. Also explore two linoleum block printings to create multi-colored prints! Print on special papers and a t-shirt using an etching press and Drive by Black Textile ink. (one shirt is included – bring more shirts or buy in class)

Bring a 8”x6” design or idea ready to transfer on the plate.

Sun Prints Clutches and Totes

Have fun in the sun and make a nice tote too! In this class you will use an infused light sensitive piece of fabric, exposed to the sun with a fun transparency pattern on top which will create patterned fabric!  Then inside the studio using a premade tote and sewing machine and adhere it to dress it up! Fun for all!
