Western Marbling

By floating pigments and dipping your paper into the design  you will make marbled paper! By the end of the class you’ll walk away with several sheets of your own gorgeous, hand-marbled papers.

Intro to Hand Papermaking

We will be exploring three different papermaking fibers and experience the unique qualities of each to create beautiful handmade paper.  When your paper is dried it can be used as a writing or drawing or the inside pages of a handbound book, and much more.

Hand Papermaking & Pulp Painting

mold-deckleDo you know what it means to PULP? Let us teach you in this class. Learn how paper pulp is made and create handmade paper from t-shirts and other recycled cotton. Pull sheets of paper, create elaborate, layered images on the wet sheet of paper with pigmented pulp. Many objects and tools used to bring various patterns and textures to artwork. Dress to get messy!

Long Stitch Bookbinding

Long stitch is a simple yet elegant binding that can be used for many different styles of hand bound book.  You will design cover and spine of your book, choosing from or creating your own patterned papers.  Feel free to bring any personal items or papers that you may want to use for the cover or inside pages.

Screen-Printing with Ink & Dyes on Textiles

In this course, students will be taken through the basics of screen-printing on fabric. They will learn how to coat and expose a screen using photo-emulsion and an exposure unit, how to print with screen-printing inks, as well as dyes unto silk and cotton fabric. Students will also learn how to create repeatable patterns, to make yardage, scarves or t-shirts and tote bags

Copper Impressions/Cold Connection

Learn how to make jewelry using copper, rivets and wire. Mark making and layering techniques will be taught create an interesting piece of jewelry without using heat.

Silver Mantra

silver-mantra.jpgPrecious Metal Clay (PMC) is an ingenious product that forms like clay, but when kiln fired is fine silver. Impressed with words, make either a necklace or bracelet using silver clay. We will form our piece the first day and finish with patina and simple wire wrapping techniques the second day.
